Dana Request for Cecilie

Brenda (ever the Accountant/P/A) would like to convey that there are considerable expenses associated with Cecilie’s out of hospital support and ongoing expenses so any gifts, no matter how small, would be welcome and gratefully received. Please see the dropbox notes or contact Don for needed info: Don MacKenzie don.mackenzie@shaw.ca.

Now that Cecilie is unable to lead retreats she is unable to receive dana for teachings, if Cecilie has helped you or someone you know in anyway please think of her with gratitude and send Dana.

Cecilie Update Monday Nov 11

Good evening;

Brenda has just sent the daily update from the hospital. She wanted to thank all those offering advice on alternative healing therapies. She wanted to as diplomatically as possible indicate to everyone the following:

At this point Cecilie’s injuries require acute care and potentially future surgery. She will very much need to take the advice of the surgeons and other professionals, rehab, etc. for a considerable period of time. So perhaps now is not the time to come forward with these options. Especially since Cecilie is experiencing a good deal of disorientation and will be for some time.

Brenda has spent time with Cecilie today and reports that she does not remember the accident, does not really ‘process’ what has happened or even at times where she is and why. This is normal. This it to be expected. Her brain was banged around quite a bit and aside from any other trauma, concussion is most likely on that list as well.

This is a difficult phase for Cecilie as she is awake enough (as they reduced the sedation/pain meds) to want to get these uncomfortable tubes out of her! The respiratory therapist Brenda talked to today confirmed that she has been titrated down by 1/2 and the oxygen supplement has been lowered by 5% more They will keep going as she is physically tolerating it well albeit mentally it probably is a bit tortuous for her.

Brenda reminded Cecilie of all the folks that are doing Star groups and other meditations and mentioned that a number of them were taught by her. When Brenda told her it was time to use her meditative skills to deal with restlessness and skeptical doubt! That brought a rather neutral ‘hmmm who the f’ are you?’ type look.

However, when Brenda then asked if she knew who Brenda was there was a definite attempted chin wag and then Brenda said ‘I have to eat – I’m starving and I need coffee – I’ll be back in a bit.’, her eyes widened and she grinned – a big huge grin — as much as all those tubes would allow. Her eyes sparkled with affection and she was just ‘all there’ at the energy body level. But that was a brief ‘window’ as this last ‘leg’ of titration is actually the hardest for Cecilie.

Let’s all pray that they can remove the intubation tube as quickly as possible and that she then stabilizes enough to be moved out of ICU. When that happens you will know as soon as we do. When that happens, and visiting hours change, please be aware that over stimulation is not going to help with the confusion and too many options will add to her confusion. So…for the immediate future please refrain from offering alternative advice for healing modalities. That advice while possibly helpful in the long term will not be useful in the short term and may be harmful to her immediate recovery. For those, other than immediate family, it’s probably best to call the hospital to find out if they have any restrictions on numbers, timing, etc. before you come. That’s an unknown at the moment.

For those doing Star Groups, whatever you did yesterday – keep going!!

Much Love,

Don, Pat and Brenda
