"Pith Instructions"
Key Dharma "Pith Instructions"
as chosen by Wangapeka 2005 mini-sangha
In the last week of the 2005 Wangapeka Buddhadharma Study and Meditation Program, Tarchin asked the participants to make individual lists of what they considered to be core 'pith instructions' in exploring the Dharma. Each person highlighted one or two of these as central for themselves.
Here is the collective list of the instructions people considered most important:
- Your life is your path of awakening.
- Don't take it personally!
- All states of suffering are non-awareness.
- Know what you're doing.
- Practice here now.
- This very moment, a precious opportunity.
- Having come to see yourself as the interweaving of parami, etc., begin to see that others are vast interweavings also. Because we often can't see the other being, other than as a lump, it is a vast source of suffering.
- OM, enter through interbeing, ultimate diamond state, may this become firm, 'HAM
- Acknowledge the wholesome - give energy to the good stuff.
- This training is about cultivating the capacity to be totally, compassionately present for another.
- Give and give and give until you "give"!
- Loving kindness, loving kind-self.
- Seeing the infinite diversity of all things is love; seeing their profound unity is wisdom.
- When the sun is shining, flower your being; when the rain pours down, water your seeds.
- This too shall pass.
