Mary Jaksch

Mary JakschMary Jaksch, Roshi, is New Zealand's only resident Zen teacher. She lives in Nelson at the Diamond Sangha New Zealand and leads retreats in New Zealand, Australia, England and Germany. She was appointed as a Zen teacher by Ross Bolleter Roshi with the blessing of Mary's elder Teacher, Robert Aitken Roshi. In addition to Koan study, Shikantaza and breath work, Mary includes loving-kindness practice and character work in her teaching.

Mary is of English and Czech descent. Following on from her career as a classical musician, she now works as a psychotherapist and writer. Her leisure time passions include karate (4rd Dan Blackbelt), mountain biking and Latin dancing. Her book "Learn to Love" is being published by Chronicle Books, San Francisco.
