Nourishing Calm – Mindfulness for Teachers

A weekend of professional development for educators to deepen their mindfulness practice in the supportive environment of the forests, mountains and rivers of the Wangapeka Valley.

 

About the retreat:
There are now many excellent courses that offer mindfulness training, some are through computer screens while others share introductions through brief night classes. These are helpful, however there is no substitute for the support of a group who are committing time to practice together in a supportive environment. This weekend will nourish both your understanding and experience of meditation/mindfulness. The course will be designed and delivered with school teachers in mind.

Learning mindfulness physically changes the body/brain/nervous system. It can lead to a happier work/life balance with more calm and more harmony in relationships. You will learn practical techniques to help release stress, anxiety and other difficult states to feel more calm, clear and creative. This will be a good course for teachers to get a better idea about how to share mindfulness with students in the classroom.

Costs: $270 for teachers not attending the CCC Mindfulness Education Project; this includes your own room (unless stated otherwise), three healthy meals a day, resources, teaching and administration costs.

Welcome to the Wangapeka Study and Retreat Centre. We are located in the foothills of the Southern Alps overlooking the Wangapeka River, about an hour and a half drive SW of Nelson, New Zealand.

We have meditation retreats throughout the year, have huts available for solo retreats, and welcome bookings from external groups. There are also opportunities available to work on our land. Come and enjoy this uniquely vibrant and beautiful centre.

The Wangapeka Study and Retreat Meditation Centre is a Universalist centre home to a wide range of teachings, paths, and studies. Retreats are held on Mindfulness, Vipassana Insight, Heart based practices, Loving Kindness, Calm-abiding, Metta Compassion, Movement, Yoga, Dance, Feldenkrais, Wellness, Wellbeing, Archetypal Integration, Western Mysticism, Non-Duality, Dzogchen, Mahamudra, Mahayana and Vajrayana teachings with Empowerments and Sadhana Practice.

The Wangapeka is a purpose built retreat centre, with fresh clean air and beautiful vistas. It is very quiet and ideal for respite, stress relief and deep meditation. We have a meditation hall, solo retreat huts, a main hall for dining and community, and a fully catered kitchen and an onsite vegetable garden. Many people visit from all over the world to meditate and enjoy the beauty of the centre.
